Lake Mead & Colorado River Water Guide

Why the mineral-rich Colorado River supply shapes Henderson’s hardness and treatment decisions.

ANSWER FIRST

Connect source water to a practical treatment goal

SNWA describes the mineral-rich Colorado River as the region’s main supply. That regional context helps explain hardness, while the City report describes public-system monitoring. A Henderson mailing address alone does not establish which supplier or source serves a property.

Source geography is not a reason to claim the municipal supply is unsafe. Separate minerals that affect scale from a named water-quality concern. Use the applicable supplier’s latest report and property measurements when choosing equipment rather than copying readings from another Southern Nevada system.

Three checks before the next step

Confirm the supplier on the bill

  2. 02

    Read the relevant monitoring period

  3. 03

Regional source mix is not a household well test

The City describes Southern Nevada's regional supply as approximately 90% Colorado River via Lake Mead and 10% valley groundwater. Those regional shares do not identify the blend at one property. Henderson describes receiving treated SNWA water from the Alfred Merritt Smith or River Mountains facilities.

A private-well property needs its own sampling and treatment design. Do not apply the municipal report, regional source percentages or a neighbor's hardness reading to a household well.

Which Henderson water information applies to your home?

City report and dates
The City announced its 2026 report on June 2, 2026, covering January–December 2025 monitoring. This is public-system evidence, not your tap result.
Source and treatment
The City describes SNWA supply treated at Alfred Merritt Smith or River Mountains and delivered by Henderson. Regional groundwater contributions are not evidence that a particular home has a private well.
Two hardness references
Henderson's current report webpage describes typical hardness as 304 ppm / 18 gpg. SNWA's regional home-treatment guide gives 280 ppm / 16 gpg. These are separately published guidance values; do not average them or program equipment without a property measurement.

Check the supplier on the bill and the actual service address before applying this information. A neighborhood name, ZIP code or Henderson mailing address does not establish utility service or provider coverage.

Local evidence and its limits

The City 2026 report covers 2025 monitoring. SNWA regional guidance describes the broader water context; public-system results are not a measurement at your tap. Confirm your supplier and relevant property measurements. Sources reviewed 2026-10-18.
