Compare usable capacity with peak service flow
Consider this option for white scale, spotting, poor soap performance and mineral buildup. Compare ion exchange sized from hardness, occupancy and peak flow against a specific goal and the actual property conditions.
Ion exchange removes calcium and magnesium. Salt-free conditioning is a different process and should not be sold as equivalent hardness removal.
What to verify
- Record untreated hardness with units
- Ask for usable capacity at the stated salt setting
- Identify outdoor branches that should remain untreated
Ask the responding independent provider to confirm address coverage, equipment compatibility and service availability before expecting an appointment.
Compare purchase and ongoing cost
The $1,800–$3,800 allowance is illustrative only. Equipment specification, access, labor and warranty can change the price. Separate consumables, planned service, replacement parts and any required plumbing or electrical work.
