ANSWER FIRST
Verify the model and the specific claim
A certification should identify a standard, an exact system or component and a specific performance claim. Material safety, aesthetic reduction and health-related reduction are different questions. Certification of a valve or cartridge does not automatically certify every assembled system claim.
Ask the provider for the model’s listing in the certifier’s directory and read flow, capacity and replacement conditions. A logo alone is insufficient. Keep marketing language tied to the listing, especially when discussing a named substance rather than taste or scale.

Read the listing in this order
- Match the complete model and replacement cartridge.
- Read the named reduction claim, rated flow and capacity.
- Check replacement conditions and whether the listing covers the assembled system.
NSF/ANSI 42 concerns aesthetic claims; 53 includes specified health-effect reduction claims; 58 applies to reverse-osmosis systems. A standard number alone does not mean all substances are reduced. Check the certifier's current listing for the exact claim.
